Despite being fully jabbed, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will miss today’s Premier League game against Chelsea after returning a suspected positive test for Covid-19. This comes in, just a few hours to play their fixture against Chelsea, with one of their key strikers, Sadio Mane facing a goalless run at Anfield. It should be noted that Liverpool had reported three more positive cases on Friday.

"Jürgen Klopp will miss Liverpool’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea on Sunday after returning a suspected positive COVID-19 test result.
The Reds manager, who reported mild symptoms ahead of the fixture, is now isolating.

Assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders will therefore lead the team for the 4.30pm GMT kick-off at Stamford Bridge.

Testing of the entire first-team set-up has revealed no further positive cases within the playing squad in addition to the three confirmed by Klopp on Friday.

Three backroom staff members have returned suspected positive results, however." (alert-passed)

On the other hand, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is considering leaving Romelu Lukaku out against Liverpool today following the Chelsea striker’s controversial interview about life at Stamford Bridge which directly offended the German. Liverpool's Trent Alexander Arnold will be looking forward to making his 200th appearance for Liverpool.

Today's other fixtures

  • Brentford Vs Aston villa
  •  Everton Vs Brighton
  •  Leeds Vs Burnley
  • Southampton Vs Newcastle (Postponed)
Nevertheless, the English Premier League title race continues.
