The Egyptian's contract ends in the summer of 2023, and negotiations for a new one have been ongoing for some time. Since signing from Roma in 2017, the 29-year-old has been outstanding for the Reds, becoming the club's highest scorer in that time. This season, the attacker has scored 30 goals and sent out 12 assists in 42 appearances for Liverpool.

When asked if he was certain of staying at Anfield Stadium for many years to come, Salah told FFT: "I don't know, I have one year left." I believe the supporters understand what I want, but the contract makes it clear that it is not just about the money. So I'm not sure, and I can't tell you exactly. I just have one year left, and the fans know exactly what I want."

The 29-year-old acknowledged that he has always wanted to stay at Liverpool. "Yeah," he agreed. "This club means a lot to me; I've had the most fun playing football here than anyplace else; I gave everything to the club, and everyone noticed it." I've had a lot of incredible experiences here, like winning trophies, individual goals, and individual awards. It's almost like a family
