“This is the best they have played this season.

“They have looked more connected as a team.

“My man of the match is Cristiano Ronaldo. The penalty, the build-up to it, and he had one disallowed in the first half.

“Just his all-round performance has been outstanding.”

"But this is a question you have to ask Erik when he is here and it is also important how Cristiano sees himself and his position.

"Cristiano is not a central striker, he also does not want to play in that position. In order to not play central, you have to play with two strikers as we did in the last 15 minutes or in my first game against Crystal Palace or the second one against Norwich, and even in the second-half against Newcastle.

"But if you look at international football, there are not many top teams who play with two strikers. Most of the international top teams either play with three strikers or a false nine, so for me it's not a question of position, it's a question of what kind of quality players Manchester United have in the future."

Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty against Brentford means he's now scored against 168 different teams throughout his career. (alert-success)

Statistics from OptaJoe reveal that Bruno Fernandes scored his 50th goal in all competitions for Manchester United this evening, 21 more than any other player for the club since his debut in February 2020 (Rashford, 29).
Raphael Varane scored his first goal for United since joining from Real Madrid

On the other hand, Raphael Varane scored his first goal for Manchester United.

Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic.

Juan Mata, a 34-year-old without a league start since the last day of last season and almost certain to leave the club this summer, was one of the best players and it's probably no coincidence that with the Spaniard in the team, United completed more passes than in any other league game this season_The ESPN
