"Before Pelé, 10 was just a number. Before Pelé, football was just a sport," Neymar, Barrack Obama and others pay tribute to legend Pele.

Last night, the football fraternity lost back with this Instagram post! "Inspiration and love marked the journey of King Pele, who peacefully passed away today". Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein hospital, where Pele was undergoing treatment, said he died at 3:27pm (18:27 GMT) on Thursday “due to multiple organ failures resulting from the progression of colon cancer associated with his previous medical condition.”

Pele, whose real name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, will be remembered for his wide-ranging accomplishments, both on and off the football field.

With Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid having all tried to sign Pele in 1961, the Brazilian government, under president Janio Quadros, declared him an ‘official national treasure’ to prohibit him moving overseas. .

The people of Nigeria will live to Renner in 1969,during the Nigerian Civil War when a 48-hour ceasefire was called by the Nigerian government and the secessionist state of Biafra so they could watch Pele and Santos draw 2-2 with a Nigerian Super Eagles XI.
