BREAKING: Brazilian football legend Pelé remains hospitalized at Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo.

Pele's health has unfortunately worsened and the 82-year old will spend Christmas in hospital as he continues to battle colon cancer.



Brazil great Pele's cancer has advanced, according to Hospital Isrelita Albert Einstein where the three times world cup winner is being nursed. Pele, 82 has been in hospital for just over three weeks.

The legend's daughter, Kely Nascimento, said in an Instagram post that the support of his fans was a 'huge comfort' to him.

"Insta family, our Christmas at home has been suspended. We decided with the doctors that, for various reasons, it would be better for us to stay here with all the care that this new family at Einstein gives us!!

We, as always, thank you for all the love you show us here in Brazil as well as around the world!

Your love for him and your stories and prayers are a HUGE comfort because we know we are not alone.

We are going to turn this room into a Sambódromo(just kidding), we will even make caipirinhas (not kidding!!).

We wish everyone who celebrates a Christmas that filled with family, full of children, some fighting 🤷🏽‍♀️ and TONS of Love and Health !!

We love you, we will give you an update next week."


Pele, who has been battling with colon cancer since September, 2021 and had since been in and out of hospital. The 82 had his goal scoring legacy equalled by Neymar, a record established more than 50 years ago.

The Albert Einstein hospital released, this Wednesday afternoon (21/12), the new medical bulletin of Édson Arantes do Nascimento, the former player Pelé. In the statement, the hospital informs that Pelé presented “progression of the oncological disease and that he requires greater care”.

The bulletin also informs that Pelé is hospitalized in a common hospital room.

Read the statement: “Admitted since November 29 for a reassessment of chemotherapy therapy for a colon tumor and treatment of a respiratory infection, Edson Arantes do Nascimento presents progression of the oncological disease and requires greater care related to renal and cardiac dysfunctions. The patient remains hospitalized in a common room, under the necessary care of the medical team”.
