RELATED

The deal, first reported by Spanish outlet Marca, has gained momentum after American broadcaster CBS say Al Nassr have scheduled a medical for the Portugal captain ahead of a January move.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a free agent player since leaving Manchester United when the contract terms were dissolved. Being a free agent player, the 5-times Ballon d'or winner is legible to sign for any club without amending or intervention by any club even when the transfer window is closed according to Association Football.

Such is the confidence at Al Nassr that they are understood to have booked accommodation for Ronaldo and his advisors. They hope to have a deal finalized in time for the opening of the January transfer window. It is understood that the broad terms of Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr have already been agreed and it is up to him whether he wishes to conclude the formalities of the move.(alert-passed)

CBS also confirmed that in addition to a salary worth well in excess of $1 million a week, Ronaldo could earn plenty more through image rights deals in the kingdom. Should he sign it is expected that he would be given a role in Saudi Arabia's potential bid for the 2030 World Cup. At Al Nassr he would have an outsized role in the running of the club, extending to the appointment of the manager if he so wished.

Cristiano Ronaldo's potential transfer to Saudi Arabia however has been debunked by Al Nassr president.

Asked about Ronaldo joining his club, Masli Al-Muamr, club chairman said;
"That's not true. Most of what is written in the media is incorrect."

Al-Nassr currently sit top of the league but have not clinched the title since the 2018/19 season.
