"It's not easy to say goodbye at this moment, but life is made of cycles and today I'm ending mine at Fluminense. It's hard to find words for that moment. I arrived at the club at the age of 10, I was a child full of dreams and plans. Little by little, I was conquering my goals with a lot of dedication and help from all the professionals who, in some way, made me evolve. Those were moments that will never leave my thoughts: my professional debut, my first goal at Maracanã... It was everything very fast and intense. Today I thank my family, everyone who was part of this story, employees, coaching staff, players and especially the fans. You are incredible", he said.

Matheus arrived in England on Sunday (11) to sign the contract and watched Watford's game at the Vicarage Road stadium, the 0-0 draw with Hull City, in the English Second Division. After several offers, Fluminense and Udinese closed the deal for 9 million euros, between fixed amounts and bonuses, for 90% of the player's economic rights. Fluminese will receive a fixed amount of 6 million euros, with another 3 million euros in bonuses and still retain 10% of the rights.

He follows his compatriots, Joao Pedro and Richarlison, who also made the move from Fluminense to Watford. Both of the players have been quite impressive during their time in England.

The first offer was 5 million euros , and the second 6 million euros in total, and allowing the striker to finish 2022 in Brazil.
